CSR in India

"Unveiling Corporate Social Responsibility: A Paradigm Shift in India's Business Landscape"

While corporate involvement in CSR endeavours has long been a tradition among industrial giants in India, the Companies Act of 2013 has heralded a new era by formally institutionalizing these initiatives. Introducing the concept of CSR through a "Comply-or-Explain" mandate, qualifying companies are now compelled to establish Corporate Social Responsibility Committees to oversee and ensure the effective implementation of CSR activities.

Furthermore, the Companies (Corporate Social Responsibility Policy) Rules of 2014, colloquially referred to as the "CSR Rules," provide a structured framework delineating the modalities for executing CSR activities. These guidelines, enshrined in Schedule VII of the Act, offer a blueprint for corporate entities to navigate their CSR obligations in a purposeful and impactful manner.
